GERMANY: With four new low-wind turbines announced at the German Husum Wind 2015 event this week, you may be forgiven for forgetting that there was actually a lot more to see there.

While Vestas, Nordex, Senvion and GE unveiled their new turbines, other suppliers and manufacturers also demonstrated their products and services to the industry. The size of the event - 651 exhbitors - surprised many, being the first event to follow the new international show at Hamburg last year.

New wind hopeful Dantonit showed its thermal bentonite clay filler for onshore cabling as Spectair demonstrated the use of drones for surveying turbines — a technique becomming increasingly popular in the industry.

Other manufacturers also attended the show, including Adwen, the offshore joint venture between Gamesa and Areva. 

Outside demos included German high ropes specialist PSA Zentrale showing its techniques on a scaffolding set-up outside the exhibition hall. 

And car manufacturer Nissan joined Tesla at showing its electric cars at wind power events. Tesla was previously at the EWEA Offshore Copenhagen event in March.
