Wpd chooses Vestas for 73MW in Finland

FINLAND: Vestas has won a 72.6MW order from German developer Wpd to supply turbines to a project in west Finland.

Vestas V117-3.3MW medium-wind turbine uses a 57.5-metre blade

Vestas will supply 22 V117-3.3MW turbines and provide 15 years servicing to the Tohkoja project.

Delivery of the turbines is expected in 2016, with commissioning due later in the year.

In June, Vestas was selected for another Finnish project, of 33MW, by local developer Suomen Hyotytuuli Oy. Sumoen's Nik-karinkaarto project in west Finland will use ten Vestas V126-3.3MW turbines.

Tohkoja will be Wpd's third project in Finland. In 2014, the developer brought the 15MW Makikangas project online, also in west Finland. It uses five Nordex N117 3MW turbines.

Wpd also selected Nordex to supply 12 more of the 3MW turbine to its Kalajoki project in west Finland in December 2014.
