Sinohydro's renewable energy division said the first turbine was successfully installed at the second 80MW phase of the project last week.

Located in east China's Jiangsu province, the project covers a 16.1-square kilometre area to the west of Xiaoyangkou Port.

It is believed the turbine is the CSIC 5MW unit, manufacturing of which was completed in January at the company's in Rudong. CSIC also provided ten 2MW turbines for the first 20MW phase of the project in 2013.

Two prototypes of the 5MW turbine achieved full power at Longyuan's Rudong intertidal project in 2013.
