UXO survey commissioned for Borwin3

NETHERLANDS: N-Sea Offshore Wind of Zierikzee has won the contract from project company DC Netz BorWin3 for unexploded explosive ordnance (UXO) survey, identification and removal on the cable route for BorWin3 transmission line.

Unexploded munitions has hampered offshore development

The cable link is due to serve Global Tech I, EnBW Hohe See and Albatros.

The tender, covering the nearshore part of the route, is expected to take about 6 months commencing Q1 2015; secondly for the offshore part of the route: also taking around 6 months commencing Q3-Q4 2015, and thirdly for the converter platform site, expected to take about 2 months commencing Q3 2017.

The planned 130 kilometer BorWin3 DC submarine cable connection runs from Hamswehrum in Germany through German territorial waters and the German EEZ before it ends at the planned BorWin Gamma substation in the North Sea (German EEZ).
