Cuxport selected as Siemens logistics partner

GERMANY: Siemens has awarded Cuxport the logistics contract for its North Sea converters.

Cuxport will support Siemens' offshore substations

Cuxport will be responsible for receiving and storing products, packing and unpacking, and loading and unloading vessels docking at Cuxhaven port. The "long-term" contract will begin in May this year.

The port will serve the BorWin 2, HelWin 1 and 2, and SylWin 1 converter platforms, built by Siemens, which support German North Sea offshore wind projects. It served as a base port during the installation of the platforms.

Siemens handed over its , HelWin1, to grid operator Tennet in February.

HelWin 2 and SylWin 1 are expected to begin operation soon. SylWin 1 will serve the DanTysk, Sandbank and Butendiek wind farms, which together comprise 240 turbines and represent a generating capacity of 864MW.
