Nordex will manufacture 12 N100/2500 turbines for the 30MW Fair Wind project, with installation expected in September 2015. A 20-year servicing contract forms part of the deal.
Fair Wind Power, a subsidiary of Exelon Wind, is developing the site in Garrett County, western Maryland.
The area has average wind speeds of around 8 m/s according to Nordex and the 2.5MW turbines will be optimised to deal with cold weather.
Nordex said the Fair Wind project is already qualified for the recently extended production tax credit.
The manufacturer added it recently commissioned the 40MW Four Mile Ridge project also in Maryland, which uses 16 N90/2500 turbines.
