Hornsea One recommendations made

UK: The UK's planning inspectorate has made its recommendations to the government for Smart Wind's 1.2GW Horsea Project One.

A met mast has already been installed in the Hornsea zone

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) has three months to make a decision on giving the project the go-ahead. The inspectorate's recommendation will be made public then.

Hornsea Project One is the first part of the 4GW Hornsea Round 3 zone being developed by the Smart Wind joint venture. It is located 103 kilometres from the UK's east coast.

Smart Wind is a partnership between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures. Dong Energy bought into the project in 2011.

Hornsea One was one of to beput on the UK government's Contract for Difference scheme, in a non-competitive round of funding in April.

The project is also still awaiting a final investment decision by the developers but, if it goes according to plan, construction could begin next year.

Plans for the 1.8GW second Hornsea project should be submitted to the planning inspectorate by the end of this year.
