Only the inner array cable work needs to be finalised. An underwater robot is checking that the farm's 120 kilometres of internal cables lay correctly and at the right depth in their seabed trenches, the developer Global Tech 1 Offshore Wind said.
Transmission grid operator TenneT will connect Global Tech 1 in early September 2014 to the BorWin beta converter station which will make it possible to commence commissioning of the turbines.
Test operation of the grid connection and the overall system interplay of grid link connection and wind farm will begin in the fourth quarter of 2014, with full grid connection expected to be available in early 2015, it added.
The grid connection has been delayed several times, forcing Global Tech 1 to adjust its original construction plans and start turbine installation at a later date.
