The Federal Network Agency said that the North Sea projects are theoretically entitled to a grid link, but that constraints relating to the capacity of the transmission system meant only one would be granted a connection.
Therefore Albatros and EnBW Hohe See will have to bid for an allocation within the 900MW BorWin3 transmission system, which does not have sufficient capacity available.
Both projects were originally lined up for the connection, but plans to link 400MW Global Tech 1 via the BorWin2 platform are now being reconsidered. Therefore capacity has been set aside for the integration of the project with the BorWin3 connection.
