The new site is located on the island of Upolu, Samoa's second largest island, and consists of two Vergnet 275kW turbines.
They have been designed to cope with the region's regular cyclones by having the ability to be lowered and locked into place in the case of extreme weather.
Samoan prime minister Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, who inaugurated the site this week, said the project was vital to the country's aim in reducing its dependency on imported fuel.
United Arab Emirates-based energy firm Masdar developed the project with funds from the UAE's Pacific Partnership Fund, which supports countries in the Pacific in developing renewable energy projects.
This is the second renewable energy development to be completed in the Pacific Islands with support from the fund, with other solar projects also being developed in Fiji and Tuvalu.
