South Korea's Unison supplied the eight 750kW turbines and delivered the plant on a turnkey basis to Masdar, Abu Dhabi's clean-tech investor, which developed the project. The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development provided a $28 million grant.
The facility represents 8% of the entire installed capacity now operating on the main island of Mahé. The Seychelles relies largely on expensive diesel generators, with fuel accounting for around 25% of the country's total net imports.
The Port Victoria wind farm will save around 1.6 million litres of fuel a year, Masdar estimates.
Seychelles president James Michel said the project "liberates budget to invest in economic and social growth opportunities".
"We look forward to further opportunities to assess our wind power potential and continue to diversify our energy mix," he added. The country aims to source 15% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
