The contract for the work on the 332MW project in the German North Sea covers the supply and installation of the inner array cable system.
The project, 46 kilometres from shore, was lined up to feature 162 Senvion (formerly Repower) 6.15MW turbines, which will be connected by 33kV medium voltage cables with a total length of 72 kilometres.
In addition to the submarine cable installation, the German cable company will also provide associated materials and services including the submarine composite cables and related accessories, as well as post-installation termination, trenching and testing services.
Developer RWE Innogy awarded the work to Siem as it moves towards the construction phase of the project, with the wind farm due to be fully operational in 2016.
A fault with a number of Senvion turbines forced RWE to announce last week that it will for the project in case Senvion cannot rectify the problem in time for the start of construction.
