Now that the turbine has been completed, the certification process can begin and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Gamesa has already struck a deal for the sale of three of the turbines to Finnish developer TuuliWatti for installation on a project in Finland. These turbines have been specially adapted to deal with the cold conditions at the site.
A prototype of the offshore model of the same turbine has already been operating in the Canary Islands since last year.
However, due to the planned formation of an offshore joint venture with Areva, the offshore model will no longer be marketed as is, but will be used as the basis for a future offshore model developed by the partners.
