Moventas signs up three new service customers

FINLAND: Moventas has received orders to carry out servicing on WinWind turbines from three different customers.

WinWind entered administration last year and is not servicing turbines

The contracts cover projects in Finland and Estonia and will include a full factory service, spare parts, new main bearings, reinstallation and crane services.

Moventas said that the work was needed in order to "overcome the challenges" with the turbines.

The damages threatening the turbines were detected with Moventas' condition management system (CMaS), which monitors temperature, vibration, load, pressure, revolutions per minute, oil condition and oil particulates.

Deals have been struck with Finnish utility Haminan Energia, Estonian developer Nelja Energia and a third, unnamed company.

Nelja Energia owns three wind farms with 19 WinWind 3 turbines across Estonia. Three of these turbines, at the Aseriaru and Viru Nigula wind farms will be serviced after Moventas detected damage.

Last June, Haminan Energia's turbines had Moventas' CMaS system installed and, as a result, one of the turbines on the Summa wind farm, in southern Finland will be serviced.

The 12-day servicing will be carried out at Moventas' workshop in Jyväskylä in the south of Finland.

WinWind entered administration in October following heavy losses over a number of years.
