With 24 monopiles now driven into the seabed, the company is preparing for the next phase of construction, when the remaining 49 foundations will be put in place.

This work is expected to start in April.

Eon said that due to the scale of the upcoming work, it will be looking to employ a further 13 staff to join its operations team.

A £3 million (EUR 3.6 million) onshore facility has also been completed at the nearby Grimsby Fish Dock. This will accommodate the operations and maintenance team with offices, stores, a workshop and wind farm control room.

The EUR 880 million Humber Gateway project is located 8km off England's north east coast, and is expected to go online in 2015.
