GERMANY: Wind service provider Outsmart has opened an operation and maintenance centre in Emden, northwest Germany, for off and onshore wind sites.

Outsmart's new operations control centre in Germany

The facility, which is Germany’s first offshore wind O&M centre, will operate wind plants in the German North Sea and coordinate maintenance and logistic activities.

Trianel is the first client to be served from the new facility whose 200MW Borkum West 2 Phase 1 project should be completed next year.

Dennis Schiricke, OutSmart Asset Management’s managing director, said: "Our dedicated team and our IT systems enable us to coordinate different wind farms with different control systems at the same time."

The port of Emden is used for the majority of the helicopter flights to the German offshore wind sites in the North Sea.
