First Areva 5MW turbines installed at Borkum West 2

GERMANY: Installation of the first of 40 Areva 5MW wind turbines at the Borkum West 2 phase one offshore development has been completed.

The news was reported by Klaus Horstick, managing director of the project company Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum.

Another two of the M5000 5MW turbines will be installed by the end of this week. Assuming work continues to plan, the first turbines will begin delivering electricity in the autumn and with complete, commercial commissioning due at the end of 2013.

The installation vessel  Adventure chartered from British company MPI is working out of Eemshaven for transport and installation of the turbines.
