Enercon's Austria factory exports to home market

AUSTRIA: Enercon's Austrian wind turbine tower factory, opened in the Zurndorf in March, has started exporting concrete tower components to the German market, the Austrian state of Burgenland reported on 4 September.

According to the Burgenland government, Enercon will also export towers from the plant to Hungary, Romania, Croatia and Poland.

The 17,000 square metre factory built by Enercon at an investment of EUR 40 million with an output capacity of 200 towers per year employs 241 people.

It is currently producing 18 segments a day for 97- and 133-metre towers and will start production for 147-metre towers next year.

"'Wind power, not nuclear power ' are not just empty words for us. With such investments, Burgenland is creating green jobs — jobs with the best outlook for the future and, at the same time, improving the economy and employment market," said the state premier, Hans Niessl.
