Procedures have begun for the elections after employees said they wanted better pay, more appreciation of their work and improved arrangements on when they are called up for work, the trade union IG Metall said on 3 September 2013.
Problems include shifts of more than 12 hours and service on-call beginning from 3am, it added. The trade union cited an Enercon service technician. "We expect Enercon management to understand that we are not against the company. On the contrary, we want a workers' council because we love our jobs," he said.
"If we can put our views, motivation will increase and the working climate will be better which will help the company as a whole."
Workers council reps at Enercon
GERMANY: After decades with virtually no trade union representation, employees at nine Enercon service divisions in Germany should soon have workers council representatives.
