Onshore, 1.04GW was installed, 80MW more than in the first half of 2012. Offshore, the figure was 105MW, compared with 45MW in the same period last year, the German Wind Energy Association reported.
Progress onshore came short of the widely anticipated dramatic acceleration in installations. It was thought that wind developers would try to speed progress to get turbines commissioned before government plans to reduce or even eliminate support for wind generation . The government subsequently abandoned the plans.
Regulations are now due for revision after the federal elections on 22 September 2013.
Despite the below-expectation increase, turbine manufacturer Nordex has managed to more than double its sales volume in Germany, installing wind farms with a combined capacity of 109MW in the first half.
Measured in terms of new installed capacity onshore, Nordex has achieved a double-digit share of the market of around 11% for the first time.
