Pattern and Samsung acquire 180MW Ontario project

CANADA: Acciona has sold its 180MW Armow project in Ontario to a consortium comprising Pattern Energy and Samsung.

Construction of the project, which will use Siemens turbines, is earmarked for 2013. Pattern and Samsung have a PPA for the Armow project in place with the Ontario Power Authoity.

In April, Pattern and Samsung acquired two projects from Suncor and Northland Power to be wrapped into Pattern and Samsung’s 270MW South Kent wind farm, which is being developed this year.

Speaking about the deal, Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy said: "We were attracted to the Armow project for its strong wind resource, support from the municipality and friendly landowners.

"Together with Samsung, we will be assuming all of the existing real estate contracts with landowners and will actively take over permitting and development of the project."
