Statkraft SCA to build 60MW project in central Sweden

SWEDEN: Developer Statkraft SCA has announced plans to build a 60MW wind project in central Sweden, costing €108 million.

The project will use Siemens SWT-2.3 101 turbines

The Stamasen 1 project will consist of 26 Siemens 2.3MW turbines and will be commissioned by autumn 2012.

Statkraft said it had a license to extend the wind farm to 115MW. However, grid-connection issues mean it has stopped at 60MW.

In June, Statkraft SCA signed a 580MW supply agreement with Siemens for a series of onshore projects in Sweden.

The first order of this agreement is for 37 SWT-2.3-113 turbines for the Morttjarnberget project in northern Sweden.

Statkraft SCA is a joint venture between Norwegian utility Statkraft and Swedish FMCG multinational SCA. Statkraft is the majority shareholder with 60% ownership.
