However, the company, which keeps a low profile, has declined to disclose details of the deal. It said it would reveal more about the deal when the turbines are installed.
The variable-speed, constant-frequency, and doubly-fed 1.5MW turbines, with independent intellectual properties, are made in the Baoding production base in north China’s Hebei province.
The project, to be located in the Inner Harbour of the Port of Corpus Christi, should be operating in late 2011.
Guodian said, the turbines have been designed to withstand corrosion and adapt to a wide range of temperatures. The six turbines have all passed power test verification. The company jointly designed and developed the 1.5MW turbines with Aerodyn from Germany in 2007.
Guodian also held a ceremony laying a foundation to construct a key national lab for wind turbine and control system development in Baoding city, authorized by Ministry of Science and Technology.
It was the fourth largest Chinese wind turbine maker in 2010, occupying 8.7 percent of the Chinese market share, after Sinovel, Goldwind and Dongfang Electric.
