The made-in-China turbines will be delivered in mid-2011, said Tibor Hegedus of Revolution Energy LLC of Colorado, the developer.
The electricity will be sold on a merchant basis, said Guodian officials. Hegedus said he would prefer not to comment on the electricity sale.
The project, to be located in the Inner Harbour of the Port of Corpus Christi, should be operating in late 2011.
The port is a major transport hub for wind turbines and components.
Guodian is part-financing the project, to be connected to distribution rather than transmission lines.
"For a small new business, we had very few opportunities for financing," said Hegedus.
Guodian is one of a handful of Chinese turbine manufacturers vying to get a foothold in the lucrative US market.
Only a few have signed supply deals.
The leading Chinese entrant is Goldwind. It is developing and will supply the turbines to the landmark project in Illinois.
Goldwind has also completed a 4.5MW pilot project in Pipestone, Minnesota - its first US project.
And Sany Electric is currently developing and will supply turbines , also in Texas.
