Alstom in talks with Chinese manufacturers

CHINA: Alstom Power is in negotiations with Chinese wind turbine manufacturers with the aim of setting up joint ventures.

Alstom Power (China) president Yang Guowei said the company is in contact with a number of Chinese state-owned companies to discuss setting up a worldwide wind power company to jointly explore the world market.

Yang said Alstom Power will allow the prospective partners to hold a 50 percent stake of the joint venture. Alstom Power will put some of its overseas sales and all its wind power technologies into the joint venture.

Yang was unable to elaborate on the negotiation process.

Alstom is currently developing 6MW offshore turbine as well as a 3MW onshore product.
