Vestas will supply 36 2MW turbines for the Aksu wind farm, which will be located at the Kayseri City. Vestas was unable to confirm whether it was the V90 or V80 product (the V80 is designed for high wind sites).
The order includes a seven-year service agreement. The project is set to be completed by the end of the year.
Ayen already owns one wind project, the 31.5MW Didim development on the Aegean coast. It came online in 2009 and uses Suzlon 2.1MW turbines.
According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç’s Global Market Status Report, there is optimism about the prospects for the Turkish wind sector in 2011, following two developments last year.
Firstly, parliament ratified long-awaited amendments to the renewable energy law and the energy market regulator, Emra, started issuing production licences for projects submitted in November 2007.
Last year saw 471MW of new capacity installed in Turkey, bringing the total to 1.28GW.
In March, Turkish integrated utility Enerjisa handed Siemens and order to supply 39MW for a plant at Dagpazari, in the south eastern province of Mersin.
