The wind farm, which is located on the Baltic Sea coast, was commissioned by Energie Baden-Wurttemberg (EnBW). It consists of 21 Siemens 2.3MW turbines.
Commenting on the launch, EnBW management board chairman Hans Peter Vills said: "We will be able to use the mutual experiences we have gathered in this project in our next, and six times larger, project EnBW Baltic 2.
"The orders have been allocated, the planning is underway and the beginning of construction is forecast for next year."
This year, Germany is set to roll out its offshore program. By the end of the year it could have around 230MW of new offshore capacity delivering electricity, taking its total to around 320MW.
Upcoming projects include the 400MW Bard 1 project, with half its capacity due to come online this year.
