Dong announces UK renewables offshoot

UK: Dong has announced plans to set up a dedicated division to manage its renewable energy operations in the UK.

The company currently owns three UK offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 350MW. It has another 1.4GW in the pipeline.

The new unit will be located in London and be headed up by Jason Halsey who is currently Vestas site manager for the Robin Rigg wind farm.

Among Dong’s upcoming UK projects is the 1GW London Array wind farm and an offshore servicing hub in Belfast for the Irish Sea.

However, the company is not involved in any of the 32.2GW of Round 3 UK offshore projects set to be installed around 2015.
