Dong signs offshore hub MOU with Belfast Harbour

UK: Dong Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Belfast Harbour to build an offshore servicing and manufacturing hub at the site.

The hub would service projects such as Dong's Walney offshore wind farm
Under the terms of the deal, Belfast Harbour would fund the £40 million development, which would cover 50 acres and would include a 450m quay.

Construction could begin in 2013.

However, Dong spokesman said the deal was dependent on the company getting financing for its wind farms in the Irish Sea. He said a decision would be taken by the end of the year.

This would include the 500MW Duddon Sands project, as well as expansions to the 90MW Burbo Bank and 367MW Walney developments.
