GE wins its 'biggest European servicing deal'

SPAIN: GE has won, what it describes as its biggest European servicing agreement, a 10-year contract from Spanish developer Cobra Energia.

The servicing deal covers Cobra's GE 1.5MW turbines

The deal runs across Cobra’s eight Spanish wind farms. All of the developments use GE 1.5MW turbines, which are set to come off warranty by the end of 2012.

In total 178 turbines will comes under the agreement.

The deal comes a year after GE announced would cease manufacturing at its Spanish facility, 150 kilometres south of Madrid in the Noblejas district of Castile-La Mancha region.

At the time, GE said 57 of the factory's 129 workers would lose their jobs while the remaining workers would switch to providing operations and maintenance services.
