The Lac-Alfred wind farm project in the Gaspésie region will consist of 150 2MW turbines and is Repower’s largest Canadian project to date.
Repower will deliver 54 MM82 turbines and 96 MM92 turbines in two phases. The first 75 turbines will be commissioned by December 2012, while the remaining 75 turbines will enter operation in 2013.
The Lac-Alfred project is on of two major Canadian wind energy projects to have cleared key regulatory hurdles late last year.
The project is the first of five Saint-Laurent wind farms to obtain an order-in-council from the province authorizing construction and operation.
The company won contracts with Hydro-Quebec for 954MW of capacity in a call for wind energy that was completed in May 2008.
All five projects will use Repower 2MW turbines.
