Speaking to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, Nauen said Repower was examining products supplied to its Chinese subsidiary Repower North for possible assembly in Europe for its 2MW machines.
Nauen added that Repower is also looking to take gearboxes produced in Indian factories by fellow Suzlon-owned company Hansen. Until now, all of Repower’s gearboxes have been sourced from European suppliers.
The company is also planning to announce a new wind turbine assembly facility in Asia this year to serve the Australian, US and New Zealand markets. Production is likely to start with the MM92 2MW turbine.
"The location has not yet been decided," Nauen said, although some sort of link-up with Suzlon is likely. He added: "Suzlon has several factories in Asia, and it’s a matter of seeing which is best suited."
However, Nauen pointed out, the German manufacturing plants would be unaffected as the Asian plant would be serving a new market.
