Siemens receives 593MW order from MidAmerican

UNITED STATES: Siemens has received an order for 593MW from MidAmerican Energy, its largest onshore wind turbine order to date, for three projects in Iowa.

The deal is for 258 SWT-2.3-101 units for the Laurel, Rolling Hills and Pomeroy wind projects.

Delivery is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2011 and be completed by early 2012. The deal also includes a service agreement.

The turbines will be produced in Siemens’ factories at Fort Madison, Iowa, and Hutchinson, Kansas. The nacelle assembly facility in Hutchinson , for Siemens’ 2.3MW and 3MW turbines.

In May, Siemens received its , for 343MW for the Snake River wind project in Washington.

It also won a contract in April to supply turbines for the 460MW , the US’s first offshore wind farm.
