Nordex will supply 17 N100 2.5MW turbines for the Elk Wind Farm. The contract also includes a 10-year maintenance agreement.
It is the manufacturer’s first contract for RPM Access.
The N100 turbines, which are designed for low and moderate wind conditions, will be produced at Nordex’s Arkansas factory.
The Elk development is due to be completed in October 2011. RPM Access also has a 20-year power purchase agreement in place for the project with the Central Iowa Power Cooperative.
RPM Access principle Stephen Dryden said: "The Nordex N100 is a near perfect match for the wind regime found at the Elk wind site in north east Iowa."
This is Nordex’s second US deal for the N100 turbine this month. On December 2, it clinched an order for 75MW N100 turbines from EverPower Wind Holdings.
