The development, which Pattern Energy said is only one to be brought online in California this year, uses Siemens 2.3MW turbines.
Electricity produced from the development will be sold under a 15-year agreement to Pacific Gas and Electric.
Hatchet Ridge was initiated by the now-defunct Babcock and Brown. The company was acquired last year by a private equity company, which committed $400 million to launch Pattern Energy.
