Pattern and SDG&E sign 315MW California deal

UNITED STATES: Utility San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and developer Pattern Energy have signed a 20-year contract for 315MW from the Ocotillo wind farm in California.

The Ocotillo development is located 25 miles west of El Centro in the Imperial Valley. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.

The contract will be transmitted along the 500kV Sunrise Powerlink transmission line, currently under construction and due to come into service in 2012.

The contract requires approval from the California Public Utilities Commission. The commission proposed by SDG&E in 2008.

The upgrade is designed link wind energy resources in the Imperial Valley and the northern Baja region of Mexico.
