Wind Wire: Egypt - Masdar continues wind foray

Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Agency and Masdar, the Abu Dhabi-owned renewable energy investment vehicle, have signed a framework agreement to conduct a feasibility study for a 200MW wind project on the Gulf of Suez.

If the outcome is positive, the two entities are expected to form a joint venture to develop, build and operate the plant under a 20-25 year power purchase agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. It would mark Masdar's second major wind power investment, after it bought a 20% stake in England's 1GW London Array offshore project late last year.
