Approval for Northern Irish wind farm

UK: Northern Irish renewable energy company Gaelectric has received approval to build a 14MW wind farm at Carn Hill, near Knockagh.

Planning permission for the project means construction will begin later this year. The wind farm will comprise six turbines and will be able to generate sufficient power for around 8,200 homes, the company says.

Carn Hill is one of a number of Gaelectric’s planned wind projects in Northern Ireland; in all, the company is awaiting decisions on projects with combined capacity of 130MW.
