China's wind industry targets 30% sales through export

CHINA: Chinese wind turbine producers exported 20 sets of turbines totaling 28.75MW, to the world market in 2009, said Qin Haiyan, secretary general of China Wind Energy Association.

"In the future, turbine exports will account for more than 30 percent of our total sales," said Han Junliang, board chairman of Sinovel.

In 2009, Sinovel exported 10 sets of 1.5MW doubly-fed asynchronous turbines (SL1500/82 type) to India.

Goldwind exported three sets of 1.5MW turbines to the United States (GW77/1500 type). On December 31, 2009, the three turbines generated electric power and connected the power to power grids.

Shanghai Electric exported five sets of turbines (W1250/64 type) to the United Kingdom (three sets of 1.25MW) and Thailand (in May, two sets of 1.25MW).

Changqian Xinyu, east Chinas Jiangsu, exported one 1.5MW turbine (SD77/1500 type) to the United States (in August 2009) and one to Thailand (in February 2009).

Figures compiled by research consultancy Make found Chinese companies were already among the world's top turbine manufacturers in terms of market share.

The Chinese manufacturers Sinovel and Goldwind took the third and fifth positions respectively. Sinovel's share has risen from 5% to 9% while Goldwind's has increased from 4% to just over 7%.
