Repower boasts a 5 MW offshore turbine, now with boosted output of 5.075 MW, and is testing a 6.15 MW prototype design.
Three such machines are operating onshore at a site near the German-Danish border. One offshore success, in the first six months of business in the year from April 2009 to March 2010, was a supply deal for 30 units of 5 MW machines with Ormonde Energy, a subsidiary of Swedish state-owned energy company Vattenfall. Ormonde plans to start construction of the wind station in the Irish Sea in 2011.
The second success was the completed installation of six 5 MW machines in late 2009 at Germany's offshore test station Alpha Ventus in the North Sea.
Onshore, the first six months of the business year saw its entry into the Polish market through completion of the 10 MW Leki Dukielskie wind station.
It also achieved large onshore contracts, in European terms, in France with 42 MW from developer Valorem and in Italy with 62 MW from a subsidiary of Tozzi Holding.
Despite the reported aggravation of an absence of wind market revival in the US and a growing number of project postponements in the second quarter of its business year, Repower boosted sales to EUR610 million in the first six months compared with EUR530 million in the comparable period the previous year.
First six months net profit grew to €17.5 million at end-September 2009 compared with €14.4 million at end-September 2008.
