Wind Wire: Stock index goes live

A new renewable energy stock index has debuted in Italy composed of nine companies which count renewable energy as their core business.

Companies included in the Italian Renewable Energy Index (IREX) which have been active in the development of wind projects include Alerion, Erg Renew, Kinexia and TerniEnergia. Created by Italian strategic consulting firm Altheys, a base of 10,000 points was set as of 2 April 2008. Since then, historic calculations show the index hit a low of 9320 points on 16 September 2008 and a high of 11,306 points at the end of July 2009.
