Enersis is owned by a consortium of Portuguese investors headed by Magnum Capital, which bought the company from failed Australian wind asset manager Babcock & Brown earlier this year. PEPG, which Martifer is buying for EUR7.5 million, owns 25% of the Ventinveste consortium, which is building 400 MW of wind in Portugal under a government concession.
The deal, subject to the approval of Portugal's energy directorate, will increase Martifer's share in Ventinveste to 56.6%. Martifer also intends to pick up a further 5% of Ventinveste currently held directly by Enersis. Ventinveste's other major shareholder is Galp Energia, while local energy company Efacec holds 2%.
Portuguese energy giant EDP has awarded local energy company Efacec a three-year contract worth EUR3-4 million for the maintenance of 150 MW of wind farms in Spain and Portugal. The contract follows a call for proposals by EDP for maintenance of around 400 MW of wind power, says Efacec CEO Alberto Barbosa. Efacec won contracts for 124 MW in Spain and 26 MW in Portugal, beating off competition from Spanish firms, he adds.
The contract includes preventive maintenance work as well as repairs, making it difficult to assess the final value of the contract over its term. In Spain, Efacec will maintain three wind farms, which EDP runs as a single 124 MW plant at Campollano, in the eastern province of Albacete. In Portugal, Efacec is to maintain the Vilanova Wind Farm. Efacec is already responsible for the maintenance of 208 MW of installed power in EDP's wind farms in Portugal and another 80 MW in Spain.
