New center in Iowa; the Midwest Wind Energy Centre

The newly-formed Midwest Wind Energy Centre in Iowa is now seeking its first project. The centre, to disseminate wind information and demonstrate small and large turbines in the cold Iowa weather, is jointly developed by Waverly Light and Power Co and the University of Northern Iowa, says Waverly's Jay Jebe. The small municipal utility has already installed a refurbished 80 kW Vestas turbine from Zond Systems Inc that has been generating power since November.
