Nine companies respond to Apulia tender

Nine groups responded to a call from the town of Cerignola, located in the Italian region of Apulia, to present proposals for the construction of two wind plants with a combined capacity of between 130 MW and 156 MW. The wind plants will respectively have 32 and 20 turbines, with rated capacities of 2.5 MW-3 MW. Cerignola mayor Matteo Valentino says the group making the most attractive offer will win the concession for the larger project. The town has already assigned the construction of a third wind plant, with 15 turbines in the same size range, to a company called Gierret, which is now completing the authorisation process with the Apulia authorities. "We'll see how this first experience with wind power goes," says Valentino. "There is a possibility of increasing the total in the Cerignola territory to about 200 turbines in the future." Parties interested in building wind capacity in Cerignola all needed to meet a requirement of already running at least one Italian wind plant. Bidders include Alerion, Inergia, Asja Ambiente Italia, Ecoenergia Lucania, Energia in Natura, Centrogas Energia, Fen Energia and Sistemi Energetici.
