HOPING FOR A WORLD RECORD
In February Sweden's jumbo turbine, the Näsudden II, produced 1168 MWh of electricity, a new monthly record for the turbine. Göran Olsson from Vattenfall checked if any turbine had produced more in a month, hoping for a world record. To his disappointment he found that the 5 MW MOD turbine in Hawaii, now running at a reduced capacity of 2.2 MW, produced 100 MWh more in a month during its heydays. But he is convinced the Näsudden II, if the winds are strong in a month with more days in it than February, will eventually break the record.
