All Gujarat wind turbines survive major quake

All 167 MW of installed wind turbines have survived the recent earthquake in Gujarat, according to wind industry members and the Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Sources. The quake, recorded at 8.1 on the Richter scale, hit the western state of Gujarat on January 26 when India was celebrating its Republic Day. Damage was so severe that last month emergency workers were still pulling bodies from the rubble. Rann of Kutch, where some of the first installed turbines are located at Mandovi, and the region along the Pakistan border were among the hardest hit zones.
