A 20 kW version of the 250 kW Zephyr
The constructor of the Swedish 250 kW Zephyr turbine has applied for government support to develop a 20 kW version using the same two-bladed, passive-pitch, teetering concept. Sven Svenning says the tower and rotor will have the same height and diameter as the Zephyr. Studies have revealed a market for this size of turbine in Sweden, for stand alone and grid connected operation. Government agency Nutek is sceptical about supporting a small scale turbine, though. Its subsidies for wind development are reserved for turbines of 60 kW rated capacity and larger.
