Ventipower, a unit of Portugal's Ventinveste consortium producing wind turbines for Germany's Repower, has exported its first machines. Five 2 MW turbines have left the industrial zone of Oliveira de Frades destined for the Moulin de La Drague wind farm in France. Production began in November. Ventipower, which is working towards an annual production capacity of 260 MW, expects to build about 90 Repower turbines this year, more than 90% of which are for export. The creation of Ventipower resulted from the Ventinveste consortium's winning bid in Phase B of the Portuguese government's call for bids to install 400 MW of wind power capacity.
