The ISO-9001 certificate of quality approval has been granted to Svendborg Brakes in Denmark, a major supplier of disc brakes to the wind turbine industry. The company's quality control of its production was approved by Bureau Veritas Quality International. Svendborg Brakes was founded in 1990 on its takeover of Hägglunds, a company then owned by giant Swedish conglomerate ASEA. During the past two years, annual growth has run at 50%, reports Svendborg, which has marketing subsidiaries in Germany and Poland. It also reports that its brakes were used on all wind turbines installed in Germany and Denmark in 1995.
