Four thousand acres of forest has been cleared in Andhra Pradesh for 35 MW of wind projects, expected to be completed by September 1995. So far orders have gone to TTG Husumer for 5 MW of its 250 kW turbine; to NEPC- Micon, again for 5 MW of 225 kW turbines; and to BHEL-Nordex for 12 MW of 250 kW turbines. By March 1996, 100 MW is expected to have been installed. It is also expected that the forest department will clear another 6000 acres of land within the near future.
